Therapy for New & Expecting Parents
There are few transitions as impactful as becoming a parent - and in all of the talk about the baby, it can be easy to feel like your experience gets lost.

Having a baby is about more than welcoming a new child into the world - it's also about becoming a parent yourself. While this time can be full of excitement, it can also trigger a host of other feelings. There's a reason some draw a parallel between matrescence (or the process of becoming a mother) and adolescence.
These feelings can start in pregnancy. Maybe you feel anxiety about how having a child will impact your relationship with your partner or other important people in your life. Or you may worry about how you will handle all the day in and day out responsibilities of caring for a newborn. Perhaps you're already finding yourself struggling to shake intrusive thoughts about yours or your baby's health.

And once the baby has arrived, you may find yourself feeling emotions more deeply or more suddenly than you're used to. Maybe you are struggling to reconcile the reality of the newborn phase with idyllic depictions common in our culture. And you may be asking yourself - "who am I now that I am a parent?"

Through therapy, we can work together to create the space to explore these big questions and find yourself in this new phase of life. Our work can offer comfort and validation. And in particular in the case of postpartum depression or anxiety, it can offer tangible support to help you make it through.
